EXPENSIVE HIT: Hail Damages 4,300 Cars At Nebraska Dealership ...

Posted: 04 Jun 2014 02:40 PM PDT

The same storm system that hit Iowa Tuesday caused even more damage in Nebraska.

Golf ball, even baseball, sized hail rained down in Blair, Nebraska last night. It was pushed along by more than 80-mile per hour winds.

At least 20-people caught in the hail storm were treated for injuries.

Homes didn't fare any better. Hail shredded the siding, roof and windows of some homes.

If you don't mind a little hail damage, you might get a great deal on a new car.

All 4,300 cars at Woodhouse Auto Family in Blair were pummeled shattering windows, sunroofs and leaving huge dents on the hoods, roofs, and trunks.

The car dealer expects the damage to top $162-million.

**For the 1969 Mustang Hardtop**

The engine idles very well, makes good power, and starts well every time. The transmission also shifts well (fully rebuilt with mild shift kit). All the gauges, lights, and horn work. The original A/C parts have been removed from under the hood to have them restored, but are included in a box in the trunk (still in original non-op condition). It has a newer gas tank, shocks, bumpers, brakes, radiator/shroud, and more (over $3,500 in receipts in the past 5 years). This car is ready to drive and enjoy right away!

This Mustang is a very nice original car that has been re-painted and cosmetically/mechanically restored as needed. NO RUST ISSUES.. Always garage kept and cared for. The paint job looks very good from any distance and the underside of the car is nice as well. Only a few minor flaws here or there from age/driving, but it's a nice paint job overall. The interior is original and very nice. Only slight evidence of age and wear, as a nice original low mileage car should. Overall, it's a sharp Mustang and you'd be hard pressed to find another one like it!

CLS OPTIK PAKET BY FOSTLA.DE

For those who want his vehicle to be appeared in a new outfit, the Company fostla.de in Hannover is the right place. Partial or full foliation offers as is generally known basically just benefits in a direct comparison with partial or full painting. And in order to implement a really individual appearance - from the company's advertising to the free design - on automobiles of all kinds, a special design department is available in the Lower Saxony, in order to make it become reality all wishes, no matter how eccentric.

This time Mercedes-Benz CLS 350 CDI W218 should be customized radically. And namely by means of complete conversion to Prior-Design PB550 Black Edition aerodynamic-kit. Lowering or raising is carried out by means of lowering module which is controlled using a steering wheel. The full foliation with PWF-foil in Bond-Gold-Matt-Metallic underlines not only the innate elegance of the vehicle, but allows also conclusions for appropriate liveliness. Red appliqué on front lip and diffuser bar set colour accents. The discs, the headlights and the rear lights are also tinted.

Matching all-time ready to jump Daimler's position, the performance of the engine has been increased by means of engine software from cooperation partner PP-Performance from 265 to 310 hp (228 kW) and the torque from 620 to 700 Nm. By the way, this optimization service of PP-Performance engine software fostla.de is provided on the premises. CLS rolls on the directional thread of the CVT-rims from Vossen – powder coated in matt gold – in the dimensions 9x20 on the front axle and 10,5x20 inches on the rear axle together with the corresponding low-profile tires. Finally, the special mention is for exhaust tailpipes that originate from Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series. Conversion expenses amounted to about 16.000 Euro, comparatively cheap with the result.

Deconstructing Pictures Posted on Social Media Part 1 | Random ...

Posted: 03 Jun 2014 09:41 PM PDT

Anushtup loved pictures. For him, they were a soft lens into the past, smoothing down the bumps and the ridges, freezing time down to happy faces and nice places. Memories, he always told himself, were different, they carried the bad as well as the good, though mostly the bad. But pictures, no one ever took pictures of themselves fighting or weeping or throwing stuff or lying down in the dark, looking out through the window. They just didn't.

Yatrik (my forthcoming book, releasing September 2014)

As myriad Facebook albums swim through my NewsFeed, sometimes I just want to wade in and say, " I get it. Your life is perfect".

For that is why we share pictures don't we? I mean really? To project an idealization of our life.

Nothing new about this of course. In late 80s and early 90s when I was young, people didn't have social media or computers. Which meant they talked to each other instead of to a screen and when you went to people's houses, they would dig out albums, big bound tomes of floral covers and Kodak photos stuck to the pages, and show you pictures of their trip to Digha or of their daughter who was doing PhD in the States standing in front of Niagara Falls or the wedding they went to where mashima wore that set she got made from AC Sircar and did her hair at Sangam Beauty Parlor (I didn't want to do it but I just had to), while misanthropes like me, who could hardly care, smiled politely and counted down to when we would take the L20 and go home.

Nowadays of course they just share on Facebook and count the Likes.

I will be honest. I don't mind pictures. As a matter of fact, I love going through albums of friends and acquaintances. As an author and an observer of life, they provide fascinating insights into human character, interpersonal dynamics, changing social mores, and ideas as to how I should more perfectly project how perfect my own life is through pictures posted on social media.

In the course of my peripatetic peregrinations through the lives of others, as presented through jpeg and png pixels on my screen, I have isolated some tropes, or themes, that run through desi albums. Many of these tropes are restricted to those desis who have settled abroad (they tend to be more demonstrative of their success through gratuitous uploads of pictures, and the simplest explanation of that may be faster upload speeds and cheaper connectivity), while some(e.g. wedding) are more universal.

Any hurting of sentiment is purely intentional.

The car: When desi fresh of boat comes to the foreign, his first car, if bought within a year of arrival, will make it to his album. The one year is the window of innocence, when the fresh-of-boat doesn't know that a 98 second hand Corolla or a 2000 Civic (even if it has a moon-roof) is the show-equivalent of a HMT watch. It does not matter since his batchmates do not know any better and they will be mighty impressed, but this album is going to be deleted a few years hence. For example, I once saw an album where an alum from an engineering college most famous for producing best-selling authors, had posted a picture of a Hyundai 2003. Now since Hyundais in those days had lower resale value than a Corolla or a Civic, one could get a newer Hyundai for the same price of an older Toyota or Honda, and hence a Hyundai looked newer and more impressive. This aforementioned alum had then posted a caption which said, in essence, "gonna pick up gals". I know that optimists live longer and have more fulfilling lives but believing tha you will pick up gals purely because you drive a Hyundai is stretching it slightly. Of course the purpose is served because I see loads of comments from batch-mates, without a speck of sarcasm in them, that go somewhat like "Yaar cha gya tu" (You have made it big) and "Aish hi Aish" (Fun and more fun) and "Guruji Tussi Great Ho and perhaps the most obvious "Peeche ka seat ko gandha mat karna" (Don't dirty the back seat) to which the reply had been a most practical "Leather hai". (It's leather).

Some people of course choose not having pictures of cars in their albums. Like me. These are those who either find posting pictures of their vehicles too wannabe or drive lower end Japanese and Korean cars. Unrelated factoid: I drive a Hyundai Elantra 2013.

But then there are many who do post pictures of personal vehicles. The Silicon Valley stock-options type. The finance Wall Street top-MBA-school guy. The BMWs, the Audis, the Infinitis. Some of them may be second-hand but then you can never make that out from the pictures, since they are almost always "certified pre-owned" (which means well polished by the dealership). By this time, most have graduated beyond the most novice technique of captioning car-pictures as "Mauja hi Mauja" on Facebook. By this time, his peers, who also have over the years wizened up, would scoff at such egregious fishing for approbation. The trick then becomes to blend the car into the scenery such that it carelessly stands out. For example, a picture taken from the backseat or front passenger-seat that focuses on the logo of the steering wheel, or a casual family-shot taken outside the car with your hand protectively on the hood. Touching the car becomes imperative if you are afraid someone may think you did the oldest dodge in the book, have a picture taken with random cool car in parking lot. Other strategies include having multiple foci in your picture—a Lexus and a beautiful partner, an Audi and a picture-perfect family, a BMW and an empty driver's seat, the last one of course if you are actively looking for someone to fill that seat.

Pictures of cars convey a lot of positive information, besides of course financial success. It means you are dynamic, live an action-packed day, (if you are single and have a BMW/Audi an action-packed night too) and have an eye for the fine things in life.

Of course those attributes may be conveyed by other things too—like pictures of bungee jumping, or of sitting in a posh restaurant with your significant other, or training for and running a 5K race.

In the next post we shall look at these in greater detail. And then we shall move on to wedding, honeymoon, pre-baby and baby pictures.

Video: Car fleeing from police goes through park, nearly hits ...

Posted: 31 May 2014 06:51 PM PDT

SYRACUSE, Utah — Police were involved in a pursuit of a car Saturday, and dramatic video from a FOX 13 News viewer shows the car speeding across the grass of Founders Park as children frantically move out of the way.

The chase ended around 6:12 p.m. at 1500 S. Banbury Drive in Syracuse, and police officials said a minor had taken the vehicle without permission and officers sought the vehicle on a breach of trust.

The 14-year-old male driving the car is from Sunset and had taken the vehicle from his grandfather in Duchesne County, and the grandfather reported the car stolen, according to a press release from the Syracuse Police Department. Police put out an attempt to locate, and police responded after a tipster spotted the car in Syracuse. The tipster heard the attempt to locate while using a police scanner app on a smart phone.

Syracuse Police Department officials responded to the call, and video footage of the chase is available above. A photo from the scene shows the same car that tore through the park collided with a pickup truck. A second photo shows the damage to both vehicles, see the gallery below. Another video, courtesy of Bryson and Brandy Rowley, shows the moment of impact:

Bryson Rowley was driving the truck, and he said he intentionally used his truck as a ram rod to stop the fleeing vehicle. Rowley provided the pictures and videos in this story, and though he did not wish to go on camera he said he acted to end the chase because he was afraid for the safety of his and other children at the park.

"The person driving the truck could see it was turning back into the park, and he did not want the car to hit all of the children, or any of the children, and he actually pulled his truck in the way so the car collided with the truck," said Officer Erin Behm with the Syracuse Police Department.

Brandy Rowley, Bryson's wife, spoke about the incident.

"My heart dropped," she said. "I honestly thought one of those kids is going to die."

Officials said the teen was taken to a nearby juvenile detention center.

COSWORTH ANNOUNCES SHIFT IN PERFORMANCE AFTERMARKET STRATEGY WITH LAUNCH OF UNIQUE POWER PACKAGES

Cosworth set to revolutionize its approach to aftermarket products by focusing on validated Power Packages suitable for warranty by vehicle manufacturers

Company deliberately moves on from individual component supply towards fully validated system packages using motorsport experience

Cosworth unveils first of its new range of Power Packages - the FA20 engine platform for Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ and Toyota GT86

Cosworth has today announced a notable step change in its supply of cutting edge performance aftermarket products with the launch of a series of Power Packages for the Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ and Toyota GT86.

In stark contrast to its previous aftermarket strategy, Cosworth has deliberately shifted its focus from individual components to the engineering and manufacture of complete packages. This approach enables Cosworth to guarantee reliability while supporting its business objective of becoming an approved upgrade partner for global car manufacturers.

Cosworth is uniquely positioned to offer fully validated packages as a result of its unrivalled heritage at the highest level of motorsport. The company has spent decades building up successful partnerships with car manufacturers so this shift in aftermarket products represents a natural, yet significant step.

The first result of this approach is a brand new range of Power Package options for the FA20 engine platform that drives the Toyota GT-86, Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S. Cosworth Power Packages offer enthusiasts and motorsport professionals the ease and reliability of guaranteed power upgrades that only Cosworth's legendary engineering team can deliver.

Developed using the same methods employed in Formula One and sports car racing, Cosworth has engineered cost-effective and scalable performance solutions that can take the engine's power output from the standard 197bhp to a fully validated 325bhp and eventually on to a 380hp race track configuration. Each successive upgrade Stage builds upon and utilizes components in the previous Stage making this approach unique in the Aftermarket. This staged approach allows customers an affordable path to upgrade their vehicles.

Immediately available is the Stage 1 Power Package.

Delivered as part of complete, integrated performance solution, the Stage 1 Power Package offers a power increase of up to 230bhp, 11.6% on stock.

Stage 1 features:

· A Cosworth premium quality, free flow sports exhaust manufactured in partnership with Nameless Performance, specialists in the exhaust sector.

· A "Power by Cosworth" calibration kit and calibration file designed by Cosworth using the latest technology to maximise the peak performance of the stage components working together.

· An exclusive Cosworth vehicle badge and a uniquely numbered Cosworth authentication plaque.

· A Cosworth performance filtration solution and low temperature thermostat working together with the exhaust and calibration to deliver the predictable and consistent performance customers expect from Cosworth.

In accordance with Cosworth's new approach to the performance aftermarket the Power Packages for the FA20 engine platform provide a set of components that have been designed and engineered by Cosworth to work together as a solution, rather than a collection of individual parts, in order to maximise peak performance and reliability. Designed and manufactured to the highest quality, the first time fit of each individual component is assured, while the scalable system approach means that additional packages can be added easily, integrating each system with the next.

Cosworth Power Packages, uniquely deliver what the customer has long been waiting for:

More power, consistently and reliably delivered, created by a world leading engineering company with over 50 years' experience at all levels of motorsport.

As an example of this modular approach, the first option of the Stage 1 Power Package includes a Cosworth free flow sports exhaust that features two 4" diagonally cut, branded, double wall tips and a stylish "Y" shaped back muffler/silencer. In combination with the other components, this high quality, 304 stainless steel exhaust, with a mirror polished finish, increases power output to 220bhp. By adding the optional combined overpipe front pipe, with its unique spherical resonator, the new calibration power output is raised further to 225bhp. The black, thermally coated 4-2-1 manifold header option has equal length piping and CNC machined exhaust flanges, which helps to significantly reduce under hood/bonnet temperatures, boosting output with calibration to 230bhp while bringing a 22% weight reduction on the standard manifold.

Hal Reisiger, Cosworth Group Chief Executive, commented:

"Cosworth has significantly altered its approach to performance aftermarket. We are now able to supply completely validated solutions – as an entire system – to guarantee reliability and performance. This is a huge step change and one that will enable Cosworth to become the performance upgrade partner of choice for car manufacturers, as well as tuning professionals and enthusiasts around the world.

As the first step in this new strategic approach, we are excited to unveil Cosworth Power Packages for the FA20 Platform, FR-S, BRZ and GT86 cars. We are delivering a series of power upgrade solutions that will allow drivers to unlock the real performance potential of their vehicles.

Cosworth are absolutely unique in what we offer to the performance aftermarket – we are able to transfer the knowledge we have gained from over fifty years of motorsport engineering excellence, and our experience in Formula One, to create our Power Packages, so that our customers can benefit. That is why Cosworth continues to set the standard for aftermarket products."

Ian Cook is an artist that specializes in painting car portraits using RC cars and wheels instead of brushes. Which, unbeknownst to me, apparently there's a market for. He dips the toy's wheels in paint, and then runs them around on the paper using a radio controller. I've got to admit, the results are pretty damn impressive. Not as impressive as the cat painting I made using nothing but an uncooperative Mr. Whiskers, but still, not bad.

Hit the jump to see a couple more pictures and a video of Ian in action.

Posted: 29 May 2014 Press Release:

OVER 9,300 EUROPEANS APPLY TO RESERVE THE FIRST 500 NEW FORD MUSTANGS DURING UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL

More than 9,300 Europeans registered for a chance to buy one of 500 new Ford Mustangs, available to order for the first time in Europe during the UEFA Champions League Final

The first 500 registrations came just 30 seconds into the match between Real Madrid CF and Club Atlético de Madrid. Successful customers will be notified in the next few weeks

The new Ford Mustang arrives in dealerships across Europe next year. It's the first time in the iconic sports car's 50-year history that it will be sold across Europe

COLOGNE, Germany, May 27, 2014 – Ford Motor Company said more than 9,300 people registered online for a chance to reserve one of the first 500 new Ford Mustang models for Europe during last weekend's UEFA Champions League Final.

Ford received the first 500 registrations to reserve a new Ford Mustang just 30 seconds into the match where Real Madrid CF beat Club Atlético de Madrid 4-1 after extra time. The new Ford Mustang will be the first ever to be made available across Europe when it goes on sale next year.

"We knew there was huge excitement building for the new Ford Mustang coming to Europe, but the response during the UCL Final was overwhelming," said Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford of Europe. "It was a truly special way to kick off the Ford Mustang era in Europe."

The 500 new Mustangs were allocated across 20 countries. Ford will in the next few weeks contact the customers from each of these countries who were quickest to place their reservation to let them know they have been successful. Each customer will then be invited to complete their order at a dealership later this year.

Fastback models in Race Red and convertible models in Magnetic Silver were available and both will include a special package. Customers also had the choice of Ford's all-new 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine with more than 309 PS and 407 Nm of torque; or the 5.0-litre V8 engine, which will deliver more than 426 PS and 529 Nm of torque.

The 500 models also will offer Ford's SYNC 2 connectivity and navigation system; heated and ventilated seats; Park Assist; black leather trim; chrome detailing; and 19-inch alloy wheels.

As the official vehicle supplier to the UEFA Champions League for the 2013/2014 season, Ford provided more than 900 vehicles for official use. More than 200 Ford vehicles transported VIPs and match officials at this year's Final, and a Ford Mustang also transported the winner's trophy from the UEFA Champions Festival to the stadium Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica, Lisbon.

SUBARU ANNOUNCES PRICING ON 2015 BRZ® AND SPECIAL EDITION BRZ SERIES.BLUE

BRZ Series.Blue launches as special edition with 1,000 units for US market

Improved suspension refinement added to full BRZ lineup

Cherry Hill, N.J. - Subaru of America, Inc. today announced pricing for the 2015 BRZ. Starting at $25,695, the BRZ lineup focuses on the fundamentals of great sports car design: low vehicle weight, an ultra-low center of gravity and precision steering. Powered by a 200-horsepower 2.0-liter BOXER engine, the Subaru BRZ marked a return to the fundamentals of sports car design, emphasizing low vehicle weight, an ultra-low center of gravity and precision steering.

New for 2015 is the introduction of the BRZ Series.Blue limited to 1,000 cars for the continental United States. An exclusive combination of STI®-branded functional aerodynamic body design, black-painted STI-branded 17-inch wheels and unique interior trim creates a striking look for the BRZ Series.Blue, which arrives in Subaru dealerships in July. Subaru will offer 500 painted WR Blue Pearl and 500 in Crystal White Pearl exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission.

The BRZ Series.Blue boosts the car's aerodynamic performance with black STI-branded front, side, and side-rear under spoilers, which contribute to additional front downforce, and underbody panels that, while not seen, reduce the coefficient of drag (Cd) from 0.28 to 0.27.

The Series.Blue also brings impressive appearance upgrades that enhance its performance image. Emphasizing the BRZ's pure sports car nature, red-finish brake calipers can be seen behind the spokes of the STI- branded black alloy wheels. The BRZ Series.Blue builds on the BRZ Limited model and features exclusive trim and special details throughout. Its leather and Alcantara upholstery includes blue leather seat bolsters and head restraints.

Blue stitching accents the seats and the blue and black leather-wrapped steering wheel, as well as the shift lever boot and leather-wrapped parking brake handle. The blue motif carries to the center console kneepads and door trim, accented by an embroidered silver BRZ logo on the front seatbacks. Carpeted floor mats pick up the BRZ logo and blue stitching, as well. The 2015 BRZ Blue.Series 6MT starts at $29,490.

Handling has been improved for 2015 with revised suspension dampers for smoother motion and absorption to help achieve optimum contact to uneven roads for a more enjoyable driving experience. Also contributing to the BRZ's handling are 4-wheel independent suspension and 17" summer tires with 15-spoke dark gray-finished aluminum-alloy wheels.

For the 2015 model year, all BRZ trims receive larger stainless tailpipe tips, simulated carbon-fiber center dash panel, and roof-mounted and body color shark fin antenna. The BRZ Premium 6MT has a starting price of $25,695. This is only a $100 increase compared to the 2014 model year.

The 2015 BRZ Limited 6MT starts at $27,695. The only factory option for the BRZ Limited model is the 6-speed automatic transmission priced at $28,795. Both are also a $100 increase compared to the prior model year.

Subaru's signature exterior color, WR Blue Pearl is updated while popular colors Ice Silver Metallic and Crystal White Pearl have been added to the BRZ line.

Available in Premium or Limited trim levels, BRZ models all boast performance features, such as the sport-tuned suspension with front strut brace and TORSEN limited-slip differential.

The Subaru BRZ Limited offers additional comfort and amenities. The BRZ Limited model adds a body-color trunk spoiler, standard fog light and Alcantara trimmed interior and Keyless Access. Inside, the seats are upholstered with Alcantara inserts and leather bolsters. Aha® infotainment smartphone integration included with the standard navigation system.

The BRZ Limited substitutes a dual-zone automatic climate control for the Premium model's manual HVAC system, and its standard All-Weather Package includes dual-mode heated front seats and heated side mirrors. A full security system augments the engine immobilizer that is standard in the Premium model. In the Limited, the dual visor vanity mirrors are illuminated, and front door courtesy lights illuminate when the doors are opened.

2015 BRZ models will begin arriving in dealerships this Summer.

The Volkswagen brand is represented by six premieres at the AMI (Auto Mobil International) motor show in Leipzig that begins today: in honour of the 40th anniversary of the Golf, Volkswagen is issuing the new premium special model "Golf Edition"; another world premiere car that can be viewed is the Beetle Cabriolet Karmann. The new, technically perfected Touareg is celebrating its European debuts. Celebrating their first motor show appearances for the German public are the new Scirocco, the new Golf GTE1 with a plug-in hybrid drive and the Beetle Dune concept car with a higher-set body and distinctive off-road design.

The special "Golf Edition" model combines the typical characteristics of the successful bestseller with the exclusivity of the premium class. Top xenon headlights with daytime running lights, machine polished 17-inch "Singapore" design wheels (optional: 18-inch wheels) and tinted rear and side windows all discreetly identify the exterior of the anniversary model. In the interior, the premium ambience is underscored by Alcantara leather seats, leather-trimmed steering wheel, leather gear shift boot, black roof lining and illuminated door sill plates. The first-class features also include the "Premium" multifunction display, "Composition Media" radio system and assistance systems such as the Light & Sight package (includes automatic running light switching and intermittent windscreen wiper with rain sensor), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and "Blind Spot Detection" (informs driver of vehicles in the "blind spot" which makes lane changes easier).

Volkswagen is also celebrating the world premiere of the Beetle Cabriolet Karmann2 at the AMI show. Just as in the Golf Cabrio Karmann before it, Volkswagen is paying tribute to the body manufacturing company Karmann with this new special model. Between 1949 and 1980, the company produced many Beetle Cabriolet cars for Volkswagen. Exterior identifying features of the Beetle Cabriolet Karmann include 18-inch "Disc" design wheels with chrome caps, sport seats, leather-trimmed steering wheel, aluminium pedals and dash pad with Beetle look in matt aluminium. The electric top sports the new colour Sioux Brown, both inside and outside, it comes with a colour coordinated tarpaulin and may be combined with seven different exterior body paints. The special model is based on the "Design" equipment line, and it contains a wind deflector and the Park Pilot parking distance monitor. Ordering of the Beetle Cabriolet Karmann begins next month, and it covers all engine-gearbox variants. On the other hand, the Beetle Dune, which is celebrating its German premiere at the AMI show, is a near-production concept car that shows everything that is feasible in this car.

In its home market, Volkswagen is showing good form so far this business year. Through April, the Volkswagen passenger car brand increased its deliveries by 2.0 per cent, delivering 184,100 (180,500) vehicles to customers. This represents a 2.0 per cent increase over the prior year. Volkswagen has been a guest at the AMI show in Leipzig since 1991. Its exhibit area is around 2,200 m² in size this year. On visitor days, Volkswagen is showing over 30 vehicles from its current model range here.

Volkswagen is offering interested visitors to the AMI show test drives in the e-up!3, Golf Sportsvan and the new Polo, Golf TGI and Golf Estate. Over a circuit course in the vicinity of the motor show site, experts of Volkswagen Driving Experience accompany visitors as they drive and explain the vehicle technology to them.

In Saxony, Volkswagen operates three production sites: in Zwickau, Chemnitz and Dresden. Volkswagen is the largest car maker and one of the key employers in Saxony – employing around 9,000 people – and Saxony is a modern hub site for the Golf, Golf Estate and Passat models, and a place where Volkswagen manufactures luxury bodies and vehicles as well as engines. To date, over four million Volkswagen cars, over 100,000 luxury vehicles and over twelve million Volkswagen engines have been produced in Saxony.

1964 James Bond Aston Martin DB5 | Car Pictures

1964 James Bond Aston Martin DB5

1964 James Bond Aston Martin DB5

FMP 7B (DB5/1486/R) – THE REAL JAMES BOND CAR

As seen on screen wearing the UK registration BMT 216A, the DB5 was the "stand-in" car used in Goldfinger and retrospectively became identified as the Road Car, as the first Effects Car proved to be cumbersome to handle, laden with its heavy gadgets. Interestingly, FMP 7B was fitted with the more powerful Vantage engine (400/1469/V, although running on the standard triple SU-carburettor setup, same as the Effects Car). This is logical as the Road Car was to figure prominently in the fast driving sequences. Indeed, FMP 7B was given substantial screen time in Goldfinger, notably from the scenes at the Stoke Park Golf Club and, even more recognisably, when Bond is spying on Mr. Goldfinger from the picturesque Furka Pass in Switzerland.

This 1964 Aston Martin DB4 is the only known remaining of the two DB5s which appeared on-screen in Goldfinger and Thunderball. Was Sold at a price of £2,912,000 in 2010.
