Bentley Continental GT3-R (2014) first official pics ... - Car Magazine Posted: 17 Jun 2014 05:36 AM PDT By Damion Smy First Official Pictures 17 June 2014 12:00 The Bentley Continental GT3-R is the fastest accelerating Bentley ever built. It’s a road-gong version of the car that stormed to victory at Silverstone last month, the Continental GT3, and ticks off 0-62mph in 3.8sec: this is some grand tourer What’s been done to give the GT3 the R treatment? The 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that’s just been introduced into the Flying Spur saloon has been wound up to a heady 572bhp, with a stonking 516lb ft combining to make this svelte coupe the fastest accelerating Bentley production car ever built, and a whopping 0.8sec better than the V8 S model. The GT3-R is not the fastest Bentley, though, with its top-end only 170mph (virtually walking pace, really), but the eight-speed ZF gearbox and final drive have been tuned to make this car a corner carver, as opposed to a top-end tourer. A Bentley that turns? The McLaren, Mercedes SLS and Audi R8 drivers at the second round of the Blancpain Endurance Series at Silverstone in May didn’t see which way the GT3 racer went. It stormed past the leading McLaren with only minutes to go in the three-hour race, giving the GT3 a race win on debut and Bentley its first UK-race victory in 84 years. For the road, only 300 GT3-Rs will be made, and to the chagrin of McLaren, Ferrari and AMG drivers, all will be the same Glacier White that the Silverstone stormer was finished in as a pleasant reminder… So this is not a fat saloon, but a dynamic coupe?Bentley says yes. Dressed with green ‘power lines’ (cough) that also adorn the racers, a massive GT3-R logo on the rear haunches, gloss black 21in alloys that match the new front splitter, grille, bumper strips and window surrounds warn of the Conti’s more vicious bite. There’s also a titanium exhaust to back up the promise, which you’ll command when perched in a carbon-shell driver’s seat that’s been covered in Alcantara and gaudy green Beluga leather highlights, which you’ll also find in diamond formation on the doors. There’s no back seat â€" passengers aren’t welcome â€" while the Bentley green has reached the instrument cluster, too. What does it weigh, then? It’s 100kg less than a GT V8 S â€" which still means a hefty 2195kg. Compare that to a Mercedes SLS AMG GT that weighs 1695kg, and Bentley is hardly a featherweight. Yet the hand-built coupe from Crewe comes with the promise of better throttle response from that power-hogging V8, as well as even greater road-holding capabilities: this is the first Bentley with torque vectoring, which works on the rear wheels of the all-wheel drive monster to manage power to those huge Pirelli-shod alloys. It’ll also be capable of a faster corner entry thanks massive 420mm front brakes and the composure of the firmer air suspension. The GT3-R’s adjustability around corners should be stellar thanks to a recalibrated stability control system that Bentley says is for more ‘spirited’ driving (wink). When can I get one, and how much?Bentley will announce the price of the GT3-R at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed, but don’t expect change from £240k â€" a £101k premium over the V8 S. Deliveries of the flying Bentley start in late 2014. >> Should Bentley have stripped more weight out of the road-going GT3-R? Let us know in the comments section below |
1976 Honda Civic Hatchback - First Generation ... - CarPictures.com Posted: 21 Jun 2014 12:54 PM PDT About This 1976 Honda CivicPosted: 21 Jun 2014This is a first generation Honda Civic in excellent condition. When I drive it to a Honda dealer, I\'ve entertained interest in them displaying it in their showroom. It\'s really a cute car and turns heads. Honda was just breaking into the US market in the early 70s--this 1976 model is the last year of the FIRST GENERATION Civic. Here is an awesome, early example of the reliable Honda Civic. This car is VERY hard to find is good condition. These cars (like early Porsche\'s) were considered non-collectibles, however, 40 years later, the first gen Civic is hard to find--especially in excellent condition. This \'Lil baby\' has been garaged all its life. Seats/Dash are excellent w/ no cracking. No chrome pitting; exterior rubber gaskets (windows, hatch, window sash) have been freshly replaced. Since I\'ve owned the car, I\'ve spent much time locating original parts all over the world--if done my best to keep it all original. New (Original OEM) parts: Carburetor Exhaust Pipes Muffler Numerous front and back-end bushings/rods/gaskets/mount/weatherstrips Carpeting Shocks/Struts Brakes/Rotors Clutch Antenna Non-original Parts: I\'ve got 15 inch (185/60/15) Honda wheels/tires on it currently. I find that the ride is smoother than the original 12 inch (155/80/12) wheels/tires. I HAVE the original 12 inch wheels/tires, in great condition, stored in my garage. They will be included with the car. The muffler is not original. However, it provides better exhaust air flow than the original. The muffler is low-key, not obtrusive. The Yeshiva World VIDEO & PHOTOS: Car Hits Boro Park Hatzolah ... Posted: 20 Jun 2014 10:56 AM PDT [VIDEO & PHOTOS BY HILLEL ENGEL IN EXTENDED ARTICLE] A vehicle speeding down 13th Avenue collided with a Hatzolah ambulance and then slammed into a bank, early Friday morning (Thursday night). Sources tell YWN that the Boro Park Hatzolah ambulance was returning from a call and was crossing 13th Avenue and 50th Street, when a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed clipped the front corner of the ambulance. The vehicle spun out of control, jumped the curb, and slammed into the Berkshire Bank, located on 13th Avenue between 50th and 51st Streets. The crash happened around 2:20AM. Local residents heard the crash and quickly gathered on the street. Additional Hatzolah members along with the FDNY, EMS, and the NYPD were on the scene as well. Thankfully, the occupant of the vehicle was not seriously injured, and was able to extricate himself from the vehicle. The Hatzolah members inside the ambulance did not suffer any injuries, Boruch Hashem, and the damage to the ambulance was minimal. Click HERE to watch this video on a mobile device. |
1929 Ford Model A 4-Door (2014-06-21-14FKD06) - CarPictures.com Posted: 21 Jun 2014 12:10 PM PDT About This 1929 Ford Model APosted: 21 Jun 2014Professionally restored 1929 4 door Model A Ford with dual side mounts. It has the correct two tone paint of Bonnie Green and French Gray. To make sure there were no issues with the A prior to a sale, it has been thoroughly inspected, and changes made, by a well-known Connecticut Model A mechanic. All suspension parts have been replaced( such as tie rods, bushings, spindle arm, etc), brake shoes/lines replaced and it rides and tracks like a new A. This is very costly, and avoided by most owners of A's, which is why they bounce all over the road and have such a rough ride. This A is smooth riding. It has working turn signals and utilizes the correct version of the front side mounted lights for the front signals. The A has been converted to hydraulic brakes and now stops like a more modern car. The dual mounted side mounts provide a level of elegance that others do not. Tires are new and there are no air leaks. There is a small wear mark on the drivers seat from getting in and out. Easy fix. A safety fuse has been installed in the event there is ever a electrical short. I never have had a problem but is a good safety feature.
