Paul Walker's Fatal Car Crash Was Due To High Speed, Not ... Posted: 25 Mar 2014 05:01 PM PDT by Nick Hill | 26 March 2014 The Porsche GT, which the late actor was a passenger in, was travelling at approximately 93 MPH when his good friend Roger Rodas lost control and crashed. It has been four months since the tragic death of the 'Fast & Furious' film franchise star Paul Walker. On Tuesday (March 25th) the Los Angeles County Sheriff concluded their investigation and their report states the fatal crash was caused by excessive speed and not a mechanical failure. The 40 year-old actor was killed when visiting a charity event in Santa Clarita, California, this past November (2013), he and friend Roger Rodas, (38) entered a Porsche Carrera GT sports car to drive round the block. The new report determines that when the car crashed, after the driver lost control, it was travelling at 93 MPH in a 45 MPH zone when it collided with a post and tree, which caused the car to burst into flames. "Investigators determined the cause of the fatal solo-vehicle collision was unsafe speed for the roadway conditions," Los Angeles County Sheriff Commander Mike Parker said in a statement. The investigation also claimed the sports car's nine year-old tires played a part in the tragedy. In January an autopsy report determined Walker died from "combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries," meaning the late did not just die from impact injuries, he also burned to death. MORE: Co-stars pay tribute to Paul Walker The driver of the Porsche GT, Rodas, died from multiple impact injuries alone, been burnt was not stated as a cause of death. Following Walker's tragic death, filming for 'Fast & Furious 7' was postponed, but this will now recommence at the end of March. The good news is that the 'Hours' actor will still be featured in the movie's final scenes as the production team will complete these with the use of stunt doubles and CGI, Universal Pictures announced on Sunday (March 23rd). MORE: Looking back on the career of Paul Walker "They have hired four actors with bodies very similar to Paul's physique and they will be used for movement and as a base," one source close to production revealed. "Paul's face and voice will be used on top using CGI." 'Fast & Furious 7' is slated for release on April 10th 2015.

1954 Jaguar XK 120 SE OTS (2014-03-29 ... - CarPictures.com Posted: 29 Mar 2014 08:46 AM PDT | Santa Barbara, California, U.S.A. Portfolio | Web Site Posted: 29 Mar 2014 Exceptionally honest, rust-free, well sorted and beautiful 1954 Jaguar XK120 SE Open Two Seater (OTS), finished in stunning Black over Green leather with a black canvas soft top and complete with its full original tool roll and changing tools. Just out of the William Young collection in Seattle following 13 years of ownership, the car has been recently fully gone through mechanically and is ready to enjoy, whether as a fabulous weekend driver or as a Jaguar Club of North America (JCNA) event participant. This is an incredibly honest XK120 example that has benefited from the careful and extremely knowledgable ownership of a great British sports car collector and enthusiast. Originally sold to a Mr. Jerry Dejarlais of Mount Vernon, WA, the car was used regularly until 1965, when it was put into dry storage for the better part of a decade. It was subsequently taken to a restoration shop owned by Mr. Dejarlais's friend in 1975, however it was inexplicably left to sit in storage there for another 26 years. Mr. Young happened upon it in 2001 and, recognizing it as the low mileage, rust-free, incredibly straight, factory Special Equipment (SE) car that it is, determined that it deserved resurrecting. William Young has been a significant collector for the last 40 years and while his collection has included cars as notable as multiple Jaguar SS models, the ex-Constance Bennett 1933 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Special Town Car by Brewster (now valued at $3M+) and a bevy of other significant pre and post-war Rolls-Royces and Bentleys, Jaguars were always his true passion and we were fortunate enough to have acquired three of his XK120 Roadsters and his Mark V Drophead Coupe. A JCNA regional president for many years, Mr. Young always bought only the most solid examples and kept them exceptionally well maintained, as evidenced by this car's beautiful condition. The recipient of a comprehensive, 13-year-old quality restoration by Alan Gerard at the highly regarded Paladin Autoworks, Ltd. in Bellevue, WA, the car presents nearly as well as it did following its completion, at which point it was a fixture at JCNA events. The factory correct Black paint is not without its blemishes, but as the pictures exhibit, they are few, far between and completely insignificant in terms of taking away from the car's substantial overall appeal. The body is entirely straight, without any evidence of bondo or accident repair and the panel fit is consistent with even gaps all around. The brightwork is in excellent shape, as are both the rubber and glass, and the chrome knock-off wire wheels are wrapped in brand new wide white wall tires. The green leather interior is in equally clean condition, appearing virtually untouched. The seats show only the most negligible amount of wear and the carpets and interior paneling are marred by only the patina of a well-used and cared for classic. The canvas soft top is as new and the car has never been subjected to the elements, evidenced by the untainted, rust-free undercarriage. This is an entirely pure, correct and honest car, one that needs only a new owner's garage and the same gentle use and care that it received under Mr. Young's stewardship. Mechanically the car is fantastic, its 3.4L engine firing up effortlessly, idling consistently and pulling strongly and smoothly through each of the original Moss gearbox's gears. A factory Special Equipment model, the dual exhaust emits a note that this nothing if not grin-inducing. Performance accompanies with excellent, even compression and fantastic ride quality. The car brakes straight and true, the suspension is sound and the car is a joy on the road, whether tooling through town, roaring through the canyons or bombing down the highway. The car is accompanied by its original tool kit (extremely hard to find and prohibitively expensive today), as well as black side curtains (hardly used), spare wire wheel and changing tools. Facelifted Toyota Yaris pictures leaked online | Autocar Posted: 27 Mar 2014 04:17 AM PDT Images of the facelifted Asian-market Toyota Vitz, which appears in Europe as the Yaris, have leaked online. Toyota officials have confirmed the minor styling changes to the car's bodywork and interior will be coming to the UK, with customers able to order the updated model in May. The company has also hinted that, unlike other facelifted models, a price increase over the current Yaris is not expected. Today's Yaris starts from £9995. As these leaked images, posted on an Italian automotive blog and reportedly scanned from a Japanese brochure show, changes to the Yaris' styling are minor and bring it more in line with the current Yaris Hybrid. A more aggressive front fascia can be seen alongside a more prominent front grille. New headlight designs can also be seen. Inside, the updated Aygo keeps its minimalist, buttonless design, but gains a more premium look throughout. A higher-resolution touch-screen infotainment interface can be seen in the leaked images, alongside an updated multi-function steering wheel. Toyota has already confirmed the Vitz RS version seen in these images won't be coming to the UK. That car sports a new X-shaped front-end design reminiscent of the new Toyota Aygo, revealed at the Geneva motor show earlier this month. The company says the Aygo's X-faced design will not become a hallmark of its future cars. |
